Give a Child the Page
Every gift puts a trained reading mentor beside a child who is struggling to read.
Why it matters
A child who can't read at seven rarely catches up alone
In 18 primary schools across Tower Hamlets and Hackney, hundreds of children reach Year 2 still unable to read the words on the page in front of them. Falling behind early shapes everything that follows — confidence, friendships, the chance to keep up in every other lesson.
We match each child with a trained volunteer for one hour a week, one-to-one. It is slow, patient work, and it changes things: children in our programme gain an average of 2.4 years of reading age in a single year. Your donation pays for the books, the training, and the careful matching that make that hour count.
£25 a month keeps a child reading all year
A one-off gift buys a child their own set of carefully chosen books. A monthly gift funds a mentor pairing from first session to last. Whatever you can give goes straight into that weekly hour.
